Tuesday, Feb. 21 marks Day 31 of the 90-day session and Feb. 23 is my 1-year anniversary as your District 42 Senator. Although we have now completed many bill hearings, we have only begun to pass bills through the first round of debate.

The other day, my wife and I discovered a Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) we’d forgotten about for over 10 years from my time in the Army. There’s a little over $3,200 in there. We’re both in our thirties, and we’re trying to save up our starter emergency fund in Baby Step 1 of your plan.
I spent a summer in college working for the Nebraska Department of Transportation here out of the Mullen shop.
I enjoyed working with the crew from here and the surrounding towns and it was great pay for a summer job.
Last week marked the final week of all-day committee hearings. In the last three weeks, the standing committees have taken public comment on over 300 bills. Beginning this week, the Legislature will return to morning floor debate and afternoon committee hearings.

My parents are both in their seventies. They have been healthy and active all their lives, but in spite of them both having good jobs they neglected to plan and save for retirement. Is it my responsibility now to provide them with financial help in their old age?
This past week was a busy one at the Legislature. All the standing committees held morning and afternoon hearings, which will continue again this week.
This past weekend we had our first youth basketball tournament experience.
The last kid I watched play in a youth basketball tournament is now married and due with her first baby this month - my sister, who is eight years younger than I am. So it’s been a few years.
