The 2022 Hooker County Fair King and Queen are Lyle and Twila Phillips.
Lyle and Twila Phillips have lived on their family ranch northeast of Mullen for the past 42 years. Twila graduated from Crawford High School and attended Chadron State College, where the two met and were married the following year.
They lived in Chadron their first year of marriage while Twila finished her degree in biology and ag and Lyle took ag classes and worked at the sale barn. They moved to the ranch following graduation and have lived there since, raising their six children.
Their oldest, Casey and wife Heather, moved back to Mullen from Kansas City a couple of years ago with their three boys.
Carrie and husband Brandon live and work in Omaha with their two children.
Kyle worked as a mechanical engineer in Lincoln for a few years and then returned to Mullen and is currently ranching.
Katie and husband Zach live in Colorado Springs with their new baby.
Kory is a wildland firefighter in central Colorado.
Kelsey lives in Mullen and helps on the ranch as well as working at Dismal River Club.
Lyle has been an AI representative for ABS Global for the past 40 years. He has served on the Upper Loup NRD Board, Extension Board, School Board, Sharptail Committee, Sandhills Cattle Association Board and Nebraska Cattlemen local affiliate.
Twila has served on the 4-H Council, 4-H club leader, Girl Scout leader, Turner Youth Initiative secretary, secretary for the United Methodist Church for over 30 years, and is now the executive secretary for the Sandhills Resource Conservation & Development.
They have both been church youth group leaders and are both Nebraska LEAD (Leadership Education Action Development) alums - Lyle with LEAD Class 18 and Twila LEAD Class 21.
In their free time they enjoy spending time with their kids and six grandkids. Lyle enjoys golfing and Twila gardening, and they both enjoy traveling.
