Ambulance drivers are desperately needed

The Mullen Ambulance Service is in desperate need of your help! Many organizations and businesses across the country are in need of individuals willing to work and serve others and our volunteer ambulance squad is no different.

Currently, there are so few ambulance drivers available on our squad that an on call schedule is not able to be utilized. Drivers show up whenever they can. This means that the five or so drivers that are able to take ambulance calls are trying to accommodate all emergencies in our community and surrounding area. At times, no drivers are available to help!

Ambulance drivers are an invaluable part of our small volunteer service. They provide an important role in safely transporting EMTs and patients to and from the scene of an emergency and communicating with dispatchers and other emergency agencies. They also help with maintenance and general care of the ambulances. Our drivers work alongside EMTs to provide the best care for patients in their greatest time of need.

If you have ever had an interest in serving your community and giving back in a very meaningful way, please consider joining our team! There are NO required classes for drivers! They go through a short orientation with local EMS officers and ride along with other experienced drivers until they feel comfortable taking calls on their own.

Also, please consider taking the EMT class being offered through MPCC this fall. The class will be paid for by the Mullen Ambulance Squad if you join the roster as an active member. Please don’t wait to be asked to help.

If you have an interest in becoming a driver or EMT and would like more information, please contact Shelby Hardin at 308-546-0455, Barb Svoboda at 308-546-9261, or any ambulance squad member.
