Nearly the entire state of Nebraska is in some classification of drought, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor map released May 28. Looking at the entire U.S., there are just a few other states who look worse than Nebraska in the statewide drought scope. While the town of Mullen received around an inch of rain this past weekend, that storm system was spotty even within the Mullen Public School District. Local reports ranged from 1.20” to 0.17”.
