Your annual chance to win $5,000!

by Gerri Peterson
By purchasing a $100 raffle ticket, you’ll have a 1:150 chance of winning $5,000 at the Hooker County Community Foundation’s 10th Annual Raffle! Tickets go on sale next Thursday, Sept. 3 and can be purchased at Mullen’s Dayspring Bank.
The event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Hooker County Community Center, with proceeds going to the operations of the community center.
Each ticket includes a steak dinner for two. The evening will begin with social hour at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the drawing will begin at 7:30 p.m.
All ticket numbers will be placed on ping pong balls and drawn one at a time until one ball remains. That ball will be deemed the winning ball and will win the grand prize of $5,000. The winning ticket holder does not need to be present to win.
The first ball drawn will win dinner for two at Sand Hills Golf Club, donated by the club. This includes appetizer, salad, entrees and dessert - drinks not included.
The third to last ball drawn will win an Eat Local Package - $75 gift certificates to both Red’s Cafe and Highway 2 Depot, a $150 gift certificate to the Butcher Block and a $400 gift certificate to Macke’s Grocery.
The second to last ball drawn will win half a day of shooting at North Creek Ranch for four people, donated by John Howell. This guided package will include long range shooting, five stand sporting clays, tactical handgun shooting and lunch. Firearms and ammo are included.
Every tenth ball drawn throughout the night will get the opportunity to win various cash prizes, courtesy of Dayspring Bank, by playing the Human Slot Machine! Ticket holders must be present to win the tenth ball prizes.
Back this year will be a silent auction full of all kinds of generous donations from local businesses and organizations, so be sure to bring extra spending money!
Winning ticket holders will be responsible for paying all taxes and fees associated with winning any prize valued at over $600. Winning ticket holders will receive IRS winnings form from the Foundation.
Tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis.
