Beef meeting April 12th in Thedford

Take a break from calving, Wednesday, April 12 from 2-5 p.m. CT and join Farm Credit Services of America and Nebraska Extension at the Sandhills Corral, Thedford, to discuss cattle and grazing management strategies in 2023.

Mullen hosts 15th Annual Polar Bear Tank Race

by Terri Licking The Hooker County Community Center on the fairgrounds west of Mullen was the site of the 15th Annual Polar Bear Tank Race held March 3 and 4. Over 40 brave souls from the states of Kansas, Colorado and eastern Nebraska made the trek.

Happy Easter week everyone! Sounds like we are due for another round of snow and the good ole Nebraska wind this week! Area ranchers might be having snowball fights at this year’s brandings at this rate. Goldie Little enjoyed a surprise dinner treat from Justin and Bri Moore.

Tuesday, Bob and Peggy Marsh traveled to Broken Bow. Peggy attended the Hooker County Republican Party meeting Tuesday evening at Judy White’s home. Thursday evening, Peggy attended the monthly Hooker County Historical Society meeting.

Lots of Love Day Care celebrates Week of the Young Child

by Gerri Peterson This year April 1-7 was designated as the Week of the Young Child - an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
The Mullen Ambulance service recently thanked and said goodbye to two people on their squad. Dave Sullivan (left) retired after 33 years of service as an ambulance driver. Wynn Wiens was an EMT for 15 years and also served as the Hooker County Sheriff, was a volunteer fireman, and handled emergency management duties. He moved for a new job opportunity. courtesy photo

Childers’ legacy to be honored April 26

The public is invited to honor the lives and legacy of Bob and Susan Childers on Wednesday, April 26 at the Seneca Auditorium in Seneca. Lunch will be catered by the Chuckwagon ’n Jug and served at 11:00 a.m. MT, followed by a short program at 11:30 a.m. MT.
