Kung fu class to begin in Mullen on Tuesday, April 11th

Martial arts has been a part of Cornell Garrett’s life since he was 16. After watching a HBO movie that had Chinese marital arts in it, Cornell said, “Something in my soul said you must do it.” He has been training in kung fu ever since and has been teaching it for 32 years.

Pam Ginkens is NRCSA Classified Staff Member of the Year

Gerri Peterson Mullen Public Schools’ Business Manager, Pam Ginkens, was awarded the 2023 Nebraska Rural Community Schools Association Classified Staff Member of the Year last week at the Nebraska Rural Community Schools Association spring conference.

Mullen Book Club’s next monthly pick

The Mullen Book Club will meet next on Wednesday, April 19 at 6:00 p.m. at the Mullen Arts Center to discuss “It Ends With Us” by Colleen Hoover. You are welcome to bring a beverage or appetizer to share. Copies of the book are available at the Hooker County Library.

Work has resumed on Highway 97

Work resumed this week on N-97, from reference post 56+87 to reference post 66+96, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. Paulsen Inc. of Cozad is the contractor for this project.

Frank Harding always enjoys weekend visits from daughter Karen Juzena. Karen arrived Saturday and returned home Monday morning. Mullen was busy Saturday afternoon and evening with prom activities. Goldie Little welcomed visitors Alex and Kaleb Moore Saturday afternoon to show off their prom attire.
