Thedford – Here are a few updates from your Nebraska Extension office serving Blaine, Thomas, Hooker and Grant counties. 4-H Enrollment - The opening date for statewide 4-H enrollment will be Oct. 17. The enrollment process should be the same as what we did this last year.

Clean Diesel Rebate applications now being accepted

The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy’s 2022 Clean Diesel Rebate Program is now accepting applications for agricultural irrigation pump diesel engine replacements. Applications must be submitted to NDEE by Dec. 15, 2022, to be considered.

Child Find Screenings

Local school districts in cooperation with ESU #16 are sponsoring an opportunity for parents of preschool children to participate in Child Find Screenings. This fall screening will be made available in each school district at the request of parents.

On Thursday, Oct. 13 the Bronco cross country team headed to Bridgeport for NSAA Districts. The weather wasn’t ideal, which may be the understatement of the month. The wind was blowing at a consistent speed of 20-30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

American Legion Auxiliary news

We would like to let you all know a few of the things the American Legion Auxiliary has done and will be doing. During the Mullen Ranch Rodeo we had a 50/50 drawing to help buy new flags that were damaged during the storms on Memorial Day.

Festival of Love set

The Festival of Love is being held at the United Methodist Church on Oct. 23rd from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. We’re gathering lots of treasures for the silent auction as part of the Fall Festival of Love. Who knows what you might find! At 11:00 a.m.

Sustainable Beef groundbreaking held in North Platte

Lincoln County, Nebraska - On Oct. 4, Governor Pete Ricketts gave remarks at the ceremonial groundbreaking of Sustainable Beef, a meat processing plant being built in North Platte. He then traveled to Hershey for a briefing with leaders of a planned industrial rail park in Lincoln County.
