Sharilyn Bader went to Valentine Thursday for a doctor appointment. She also visited with Karen Bice. Harold and Karen Juzenas of Creighton spent the weekend with Frank Harding. Tim Hoatson of North Platte and Charlotte Hoatson went to Kearney for a doctor appointment last Wednesday.

Wyatt Thurston of Hyannis visited at the Bob Marshes Thursday morning. Bob and Peggy Marsh attended the Sharptail hospitality banquet at the Community Center Thursday evening. Peggy Marsh and Ty Marsh went to Curtis Friday afternoon to watch Jenna Marsh play volleyball.

Thomas County Airport to hold Grand Opening

A Grand Opening Celebration for the Thomas County Airport will be held on Friday, Oct. 1 at 12:00 p.m. CT at the Thomas County Airport. Lunch will be served at noon central time, followed by festivities at 1:00 p.m.

Mullen Book Club to discuss “Educated”

The Mullen Book Club will be discussing “Educated” by Tara Westover on Wednesday, Oct. 20, at 6 p.m. at the Mullen Arts Center. Copies of the book are available at the Hooker County Library. Anyone is welcome to come join the discussion any month.

United Methodist Women hold meeting

The General Unit of the United Methodist Women met on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 14 in the senior high room of the church with president Sue Bonesteel conducting the meeting. Concerns were given and Sue gave prayer for courage and strength.

35th annual Sandhills Sharptail Shootout held in Mullen last week

After a hiatus last year thanks to COVID-19, the 35th annual Sandhills Sharptail Shootout was held in Mullen last week, with the awards banquet held at the Hooker County Community Center on Saturday, Sept. 18.

The Village of Mullen recently received a $500 Lean on LARM Safety Grant to purchase traffic control cones and barricades. Tony Corbin, Mullen Utility Superintendent, applied for the equipment earlier this year.
