Peggy Marsh attended the Hooker County Area Republican Party meeting at the Village Meeting Room Tuesday evening. Bob and Peggy Marsh left Wednesday for South Dakota. That night they attended the XTREME Bronc Riding Finals in Rapid City, in which Zeke Thurston was a contestant.

South Hooker

Larry and Georgann French, Lois Nordahl and Leila Hicks went to Lincoln Saturday and visited Kathy French, John French and Virginia French and their families. Sunday was Leila’s 85th birthday. They came home Monday.

United Methodist Women meet

The General Unit of the United Methodist Women met Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 18 in the senior high room of the church with nine members present. President Sue Bonesteel opened the meeting, asking for joys and concerns. Sue gave prayer for strength in recovery.

Buffalo Bill master plan meeting rescheduled to Sept. 23

Lincoln – The meeting for the Buffalo Bill Ranch State Historical Park and State Recreation Area draft master plan has been rescheduled for 5:30 to 7 p.m. CT on Sept. 23. The public meeting will be via Zoom. Participants will be required to register at outdoornebraska.

Hooker County 4-H State Fair results

Local 4-H’ers did a great job of representing Hooker County at the 2021 Nebraska State Fair. Static 4-H exhibits were judged on 4-H Entry Day, Aug. 25th and will be displayed until Labor Day, Sept. 6th in the 4-H Exhibit Building.

Mullen Book Club’s September pick

The Mullen Book Club will be reading “The Twelve Tribes of Hattie” by Ayana Mathis next. Copies of the book are available at the Hooker County Library. They will be discussing it on Wednesday, Sept. 15 at 6:00 p.m. at the library. Anyone is welcome to join the discussion anytime!
