Heat effects on alfalfa during the ‘dog days of summer’

As we move in to the “dog days of summer”, also known as the extreme heat period, keep in mind that forage plants also must adjust to these temperatures. When it gets hot, alfalfa plants grow more slowly and moisture stress becomes common, even in moist soil.

Gordon and Amy Simonson of Purdum spent all Saturday afternoon with June Morris. Dan and Lenora Little of Maple Grove, Minnesota, came to visit Betty Brown last Tuesday, July 6 about noon and left to return home Sunday afternoon, July 11.

Mick and Midge Harding hosted a Boyer family reunion on the 8th and 9th of July at their home. There were 48 people in attendance.

Bob and Peggy Marsh went to Valentine Friday for dental appointments. They had lunch with the Butch Marshes and watched the Calgary Stampede at their home that afternoon. Bob and Peggy went on to Gordon for the visitation of Dorothy Conner.

Five year French family reunion held

The Benjamin and Bernadette French family members met on the weekend of July 10-11, 2021, for their five year family reunion. There were 65 relatives that met at the home of Larry and Georgann French.

Kelly Donohoe spearheaded a group of women who donated their time to make cloth masks for community members during the COVID-19 pandemic last year. While there was no charge for the masks, many people donated money towards the cause.
