Cherry Valentine and LaVina Sevier came to visit June Morris Friday and spent the day. They went over to Red’s for lunch. JW Simonson and Shaina of Dunning were Saturday afternoon visitors.

Bob Marsh and Ty Marsh attended the Buffalo Bill Rodeo at North Platte Wednesday night. They got to visit with Zeke Thurston from Alberta Canada, who was a saddle bronc contestant that night. Peggy Marsh went to Valentine Wednesday afternoon.

Shepherd qualifies for Nationals

Another cowboy with Mullen ties is also headed to the National High School Rodeo Association National Finals Rodeo. Ryan Shepherd, the son of Tod and Brenda Shepherd of North Platte, and the grandson of Peg Bostron of Mullen, was on the State Champion Team Roping team last weekend.

Upcoming Mullen Book Club picks

The Mullen Book Club will be reading “The Alice Network” by Kate Quinn to discuss at their next meeting on Wednesday, July 21 at 6:00 p.m. on the courthouse lawn. Copies of the book are available at the Hooker County Library.

Goodwill Club of FCE holds meeting

Goodwill Club of Family and Community Education met Thursday morning, June 3 at the Village meeting room with President Lois Folk opening the meeting. The flag salute and club creed were given. Lois read, “God’s Gifts” from a Salesian mission booklet.

Bucket List Adventure #3

First it was hiking the Grand Canyon, then it was white water rafting, what could Larry French possibly have left on his bucket list - why, skydiving, of course!!! So over Father’s Day weekend Larry French, and a few other brave (or crazy) souls, took to the skies above Chicago.

Hoyts win awards

The 2021 Association of Nebraska Art Clubs Art Show results have been announced. Gracie Hoyt won an Award of Excellence for her Pencil drawing, “Moo Cow.” Kyle Hoyt won an Honorable Mention for his watercolor, “Days End.”
