Alumni weekend guests of Alice Phpps were her brother Ron and Leann Dooley, sisters Beth Hammond and Trila Schoenberg of Cheyenne and Ed and Deb Arends of Elwood. Linda Dooley and grandchildren Joe and Natalie of McCook came Saturday morning and visited all day.

South Cherry

Bob and Peggy Marsh went to North Platte Tuesday. Dean Marsh from rural Kearney came that evening. He spent overnight with Ty Marsh. Both had lunch at the Bob Marsh’s before they all attended Sam Simonson’s funeral. Dean returned home that night. Peggy helped at the pie sale at the Old Hotel Friday.

South Hooker

Kathy French from Walton and Virginia French from Lincoln were guests at Larry and Georgann French’s from Friday to Sunday. Larry and Georgann went to Leah and Stuart Carson’s for their anniversary dinner Sunday. Mick and Midge Harding attended the alumni banquet at the Lariat Saturday evening.

4-H Horse practice

4-H horse practice will be held every Monday night at 7 p.m. at the Hooker County Fairgrounds until fair. (No practice on July 5th.) Come practice with fellow 4-H members, ask questions and shine up your skills.

There weren’t many choices of pie left by the time 4:00 rolled around last Friday afternoon at the Hooker County Historical Society’s Pie by the Slice sale, and the remaining slices were quickly sold.

Cattle risk management workshop in Thedford June 23

Nebraska Extension will host a risk management workshop for cattle producer on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. CT at the Sandhills Corral, Thedford. Cattle producers will learn strategies designed to reduce risk exposure to achieve a profitable outcome in uncertain times.

Sandhills Task Force to host workshop in Arthur June 30

The Sandhills Task Force will be hosting a one-day workshop in Arthur, Nebraska, on June 30, 2021, as an introduction to their newest outreach program, Sandhill Stewards. The workshop is free to the public, but a pre-registration is requested in order to allow for a complimentary meal count.
