Tom Hoatson of Hyannis was a visitor at his mother, Charlotte Hoatson’s Sunday for Mother’s Day. Carla Crawford of Chadron came down Saturday to visit her mother June Morris. She stayed overnight and spent the day Sunday with her for Mother’s Day.

Bob and Peggy Marsh attended the Mullen Elementary track meet last Monday afternoon. Dean Marsh of rural Kearney had lunch at the Bob Marsh’s Tuesday. Peggy went to the Elm Creek track meet Friday to watch Jenna Marsh participate. She got to visit with Dean and Jennifer while there.

Steve and Nancy Labbe of Hudson, Colorado, spent the weekend with Larry and Georgann French. They all attended high school graduation for Josey French Saturday.

Chris O’Brien to be on Forged in Fire

Mullen’s Chris O’Brien was a contestant on Forged in Fire, competing against three other bladesmiths to try to become the Forged in Fire champion and win $10,000. The show’s description says, “World-class bladesmiths re-create historical edged weapons in a cutthroat competition.

Mobile Food Pantry to be here May 22

A drive through mobile food pantry will be in Mullen on Saturday, May 22 from 9-10 a.m. at the Hooker County Fairgrounds. Everyone is welcome - no documentation needed. Call the Mullen Assembly of God at 308-546-2253 with any questions. This event is sponsored by Food Bank for the Heartland.

Don’t forget that Highway 97 south of Mullen will be closed from May 17 to June 6 as the Dismal River bridge is redone. To get to North Platte from Mullen, the route will be 20 miles further and about 15 minutes longer by taking Highway 2 to Thedford and then Highway 83 south.
