Governor Pete Ricketts signs 30 x 30 Executive Order

Lincoln – Governor Pete Ricketts signed an Executive Order pushing back on President Joseph R. Biden, Jr.’s 30 x 30 plan on Thursday, June 24. He was joined by county commissioners and ag leader from across the state.

Upcoming 4-H and adult workshops

4-H and Adult Food Workshops July 7 in Hyannis and Mullen; July 14 in Halsey. Perfect Pies will teach participants to measure, make a pastry crust and create pie filling in Hyannis July 7, 10 a.m. to Noon MT. Participants will learn to create a two-crust apple pie. Bring your rolling pin and apron.

Irrigating alfalfa

Alfalfa is a relatively droughttolerant forage, but irrigation makes it possible to produce higher yields. This perennial crop does not have specific critical growth stages when it is less sensitive to water stress. If water is not available, the plant will slow or stop growing and go dormant.

Thanks to the social media platform TikTok, 18-year-old Michelle Brown was inspired to start her own business - Chell’s Designs, making custom stamped jewelry and gifts. After seeing a girl metal stamping on TikTok, Brown thought, “I could do that.”

Tribune wins four Better Newspaper Contest awards

Lincoln - Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, first, second and third place winners of the Nebraska Press Association’s Better Newspaper Contest were announced Thursday, June 17, by video presentation. Many newspapers had “watch parties” to view the video and celebrate their wins.
