Chuck Anders of Mullen shared these photos with the Tribune, taken in about the same area mid-April and then mid-July of the burn scar in southern Hooker County along Highway 97. The area burned in a large fire on Feb. 25 and looked pretty bleak early this spring.

Lots of Love Day Care holds lemonade stand for toy bins

by Lori Freeze The children at Lots of Love Day Care held a lemonade stand on Thursday, July 31. Afterwards they had a field trip to the bank to deposit the money.The lemonade stand is a great way for the children to learn patience, confidence, gratitude and about our community.

NE Brand Committee fees

Alliance - At its meeting in June, the Nebraska Brand Committee voted to increase some of the fees it charges for brand-related services.The fees being increased are:•Brand Inspection: From $1.00 per head to $1.10 per head, effective Sept. 1, 2025.

There were 59 entries in the annual Turtle Races held Saturday, Aug. 2 during the Hooker County Fair.The following won their heat: Hayley Donohoe, Ellianna Hanks, Brynn Hanks, Sadie Hoyt, Graham Bester, Wrenley Call, Abigail Gonzalez, Henry Svoboda, Burke Mundorf and Jepson Boyer.

Mullen EMS served the public supper last Thursday, July 31, to show their appreciation for all of the donations they received to purchase the new ambulance. The ambulance also has a lift that will allow the EMTs to not only load patients with less people, but can also lift up to 700 pounds.
