Samantha Ann (Longly) Ady, 50, of North Platte died Aug. 11, 2026, at peace in her home surrounded by loved ones.
She was born on Oct. 23, 1975, in Lexington. She grew up north of Lexington and attended grade school at District 7 Country School, then finished junior and senior high school at Lexington where she graduated from in 1994.
Growing up she enjoyed spending time at the lake, participating in 4-H, band, Job’s Daughters, Girl Scouts and cheerleading.
After high school she attended UNK and graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice, and later in life she received her nursing degree from MPCC.
She was united to Jim Ady in marriage on July 14, 1999, in Hot Sulphur Springs, Colorado. After which the couple lived in North Platte, where they raised three children.
Sam was passionate about helping others. She began her career working with at risk youth at the Boys and Girls Home and P.A.L.S. Afterwards, she transitioned to her second calling, nursing. As a nurse, she worked at the Agency on Aging, Home Health & Hospice, various positions at the hospital, and was a S.A.N.E. at the Bridge of Hope.
In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and finding ways to celebrate life. When at home, she spent her time in her backyard oasis with her pool, chickens, beloved dogs, and flower and vegetable gardens. She was an active community member and enjoyed attending events around town. Sam was also active in her P.E.O. and the North Platte Berean Church. She was a woman of tremendous faith. Her church and community were pillars of her strong foundation in God and His promises.
She is survived by her husband, Jim, of North Platte; parents, Jim and Pat Longly, Lexington; brother, Chris (Julie) Longly of Kansas City; children, Emily (Matthew) Stichka of Mullen, Bri (Isaiah) Epler, and Jay Ady all of North Platte; grandchildren Lainey Stichka and her soonto- be cousin, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ron and Mona Longly, and Lloyd and Margaret Ramsey; uncle Mike Ramsey, uncle Nick and aunt Claire Longly; in-laws Howard and Evelyn Ady; and sister-inlaw, Juanita Ady.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 19 from 12:00-7:00 p.m. CT, with family meeting friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. CT. A memorial service is Thursday, Aug. 20 at the North Platte Berean Church at 11:00 a.m. CT.
Memorials are suggested to The American Cancer Society, Hope Lodge, in Omaha, Nebraska. and the Callihan Cancer Center.
