The Mullen Broncos sent the Leyton Warriors home with only their second loss of the season last Thursday night when they defeated them 46-14.
After the first quarter, it looked like it would be a close game, with the Broncos ahead 16- 14. However, the Broncos were able to hold the Warriors scoreless the rest of the night.
Clayton Moore threw a pass to Jaden Emerson for a 6 yard touchdown to be the first on the scoreboard. Kyle Durfee ran in the two point conversion.
Moore then ran in a 6 yard touchdown before Durfee ran in another two point conversion.
In the second quarter, the Broncos scored the rest of their points.
Spencer DeNaeyer ran in three touchdowns on 59, 36 and 1 yard runs. Moore also connected with Emerson again for a 35 yard touchdown.
Two point conversions were good on a Moore pass to Bryce McIntosh, a run by Moore and another pass from Moore to Emerson.
“Our power run game was clicking pretty good and
Spencer made some good, tough runs,” Head Coach Wade Marsh said. “We did drop some passes and left some points out there, however. We will need to clean that up moving forward. Overall we tackled well and were well prepared for what Leyton wanted to do offensively.”
Moore completed 6 of 19 passes for 104 yards.
McIntosh led receiving with 47 yards on 3 receptions. Emerson had 41 yards on 2 and S. DeNaeyer had 16 yards on 1.
S. DeNaeyer led rushing with 274 yards on 27 carries. Durfee: 54 yards, 11 carries. Moore: 36 yards, 11 carries. Emerson: 11 yards, 3 carries. Jeffery Forsen: 7 yards, 1 carry. Eli Paxton: 2 yards, 2 carries.
Sean Simonson led total tackles with 11. Emerson, S. DeNaeyer: 9. Forsen: 7. Durfee: 6. McIntosh: 5. Deacon DeNaeyer, Cade Groseth: 4. Moore, Adam Wiens: 3. Paxton, Brendon Walker: 2. Samuel Coble: 1.
The team had 6 sacks, with Simonson having 3 of them, McIntosh 2 and D. DeNaeyer 1.
They also had 3 interceptions, with Emerson, Moore and Durfee each having 1. Moore also had 2 fumble recoveries.
Moore had 3 punts for 103 yards.
S. DeNaeyer had 1 kickoff return for 10 yards and Durfee had 2 for 10 yards. Emerson had 1 punt return for 6 yards.
The 5-2 Broncos play their last regular season game this Thursday, Oct. 15 when D1 1-5 Maxwell comes to town. Kickoff is at 6:00 p.m.
