Mary Williams

Mary Alice Williams, 75, of Grand Island, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021.

Service and celebration of Mary’s life was at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island on Monday, Dec. 13. Burial was in Grand Island City Cemetery.

Mary was born Jan. 15, 1946, at Mullen, Nebraska, the daughter of Charles and Evelyn (Revere) Elliott. She grew up in Mullen, graduating from Mullen High School, class of 1964. She then attended and graduated from Grand Island College of Beauty. Mary was employed as a cosmetologist for 25 years. She then was a greeting card merchandiser for 15 years, in Grand Island and Seward.

On Aug. 7, 1966, she married Donald “Don” Williams. The couple made their home in Grand Island and were the parents of two children, Dawn Michelle and Rick.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Platt Duetsche and the Saddle Club.

A wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, Mary also loved spending time with her friends, whether playing cards, which included bridge, or at the cabin at the lake. She never missed the grandchildrens’ events, including baseball, softball and football games or show choir competitions. A master scrapbooker, her family cherishes the wonderful scrapbooks she put together.

Those who cherish her memory include her husband of 55 years, Don; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Stacie Williams of Grand Island; and three beloved grandchildren, Bryce, Taylor and Ryan.

She is also survived by brother, Ira (Marilyn) Elliott of Great Falls, Montana; sisters, Myrna (Pete) Boyer of Mullen and Jan (Lynn) Horwart of Deshler; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Dawn Michelle in 1975; and sister, Joyce Deterding.

Memorials are suggested to her family to be designated at a later date.
