Drastic drop in Box Tops earnings

The Box Tops for Education program has been around for over 20 years. Box Tops for Education has helped give almost a billion dollars to schools since 1996. In 2019, the program evolved to become digital.

Look for the Box Tops logo on hundreds of products. Buy the products and use the Box Tops mobile app to scan your store receipt within 14 days of your purchase. The app identifies eligible products and automatically adds Box Tops to your school’s earnings online. Even if you’re shopping online or doing grocery pickup, you can still submit your e-receipts and earn Box Tops.

Your earnings may seem small, but they really do add up. The more people that participate, the bigger the impact. You don’t have to live in Mullen to designate your earnings towards Mullen Elementary.

Money designated for Mullen Elementary through Box Tops for Education is put towards the elementary playground fund. Unfortunately, since the program switched to digital, Mullen Elementary has seen a dramatic drop in the amount of money earned through the program.

In the past 10 years, Mullen earned as much as $627.10 in 2014, down to receiving a April 2020 check of $96.10 to $12 in April 2021. Over $3,000 has been earned since 2012 for Mullen Elementary.

While remembering to scan in your receipt when you purchase Box Tops for Education products in the allotted 14 day timeframe can be challenging, it is fairly easy to do. If you don’t have a smart phone to scan your receipts, drop them off at the Hooker County Tribune office and Gerri will submit them for you.
