Local businesses win grants

The Mullen Commercial Club is proud to have recently donated $5,000 in grant money to two local businesses, Sabbiatos Artisanal Pasta owned by Deb Cox and Kearns Kustom owned by Ethan Kearns. The grant money was split between the two businesses.

The awards were selected following a receipt of applications as requested in posted advertisements and interviews with a Commercial Club subcommittee.

Deb Cox used her award money to purchase drying trays for her pasta, labels, a heating/cooling system, floor sealant, rolling flour bins, shipping boxes and pasta bags.

Sabbiatos is an artisanal pasta company that focuses on producing all natural, high quality dried pasta. Deb has attended conferences to help learn the marketing aspects of her business.

Deb states, “The grant was a blessing and a huge help giving me a jump start on my business.”

For more information, please contact Deb at 308-546-9528 or email at sabbiatos@outlook.com.

Ethan Kearns used his award money to purchase a clicker press that uses dies based on his custom leather patterns. Kearns Kustom is Ethan’s personal leatherworking business. He will be able to cut leather patterns more efficiently, which will allow him to keep more product on hand for customization. With the clicker press, each piece is uniform.

He says, “The purchase allows me to have a wider range of leather goods more readily available for customers in our community that would normally have to be purchased out of town or online.”

For more information, contact Ethan at 308-360-1800 or email at KearnsKustom@gmail. com.

Commercial Club invites all businesses, whether they were interested in this grant or not, to consider attending a future meeting to discuss your business and how the Commercial Club may be able to assist you. Meetings are held the second Thursday of every month at the Hooker County Community Center at 7:00 p.m.
