Pieces of Me

At least every other day my husband Dane and I say to each other, “When we get our life together, we’ll…”

We moved back into our town house seven weeks ago (No way! Seems like it was just the other day!) and we still have quite a bit of things in boxes and piles.

Of course, the fact that we moved during one of the busiest times of year didn’t help. And then school got out, but our calendar didn’t get any less full.

We thought we’d have all of this extra time with only one lawn and house to take care of. Ha! We’re so confused as to where all of that extra time has gone.

And we’re so tired. I consider going to bed after 10:00 p.m. late. I think I’ve been asleep before 10:00 p.m. only a handful of times since we moved. If I’m not out in the office working late after a baseball game or a meeting, I’m trying to stay on top of the dishes and laundry.

Every day as my alarm goes off at 5:00 a.m., I tell myself that today will be the day that I start tackling a project like putting away our personal office. Then, somehow it’s 10:00 p.m. and I choose sleep over organization.

But we’re collapsing into bed at the end of every day with our hearts full from time spent with family and friends, replaying the latest baseball game, and our skin darker from hours spent outside.

We may not feel like we have our life together, but we sure are living it!
