Dear Editor,
As the Christmas season closes for the year, I was reflecting on the last couple of months. I have personally witnessed many acts of kindness and generosity.
God bless our Christmas Angels; they work and plan months before Christmas to ensure that our community is taken care of and thought of. Our 4th and 5th grade students who donated to the food pantry. There are also substantial anonymous donors who gave generously to the community. I will respect their wishes to remain anonymous, but they need a huge thank you.
Thank you to the Cherry County Road Department. They have gone above and beyond in very dangerous weather to rescue people numerous times.
Thank you to the local businesses who have helped me as well as many other people. There are many acts of kindness everyday that go unnoticed by most but are appreciated. From doing laundry at the ambulance shed after a run, plowing snow so that fire trucks and ambulances can get out of the shed, taking food to the elderly in a blizzard, pulling stranded motorists out of the ditch in miserable weather, and keeping my rewards card because I keep losing it. So many nice things happened that I can’t put them all down.
You know who you are and it didn’t go unnoticed.
I’m sure there’s more that I don’t know about. I am thankful to live in this community. I appreciate you.
The Mullen family is just that; we’re a family. We don’t always see eye to eye, but in the time of need we’re there for each other.
Sincerely,
Sheriff Wynn Wiens
