The Hooker County Fair kicks off in just two weeks, so now is the time to start preparing your entries!
The fair board (Hooker County Agricultural Society) encourages you to enter items for public display in the exhibit building on Thursday, Aug. 3. Next week’s Tribune will have the full fair schedule with events beginning Friday, July 28 through Sunday, Aug. 6.
The 2023 Hooker County Fair Premium List is in this week's issue.
People of all ages are encouraged to enter items in Open Class at the fair.
Has your kid done an art or craft project in the last year? Do you have a garden with flowers or produce? Make some baked goods. Print off some photos, mount them on some construction paper and enter them. The options are endless.
Over the years the fair board has done things like added four drawings for $50 of Mullen Bucks for everyone who enters items in Open Class to help encourage people to bring out entries.
All Open Class entries also receive premium money - $4 for first place and $3 for second place. And everyone places!
The fair board encourages people to pick up county fair tags (pictured) at the Hooker County Tribune or Arnold Insurance (formerly Hampton Agency) offices beforehand and have them filled out before entry day.
If you have any questions about fair activities, the Hooker County Agricultural Society members are: Mindy Paxton - President, Glenn Garner - Vice President, Val Simonson - Secretary, Ted Bonesteel - Treasurer, Jennifer Macke, Kyle Hoyt, Genevieve Garner, Tim Cheever and Ryan Ridenour - Members.
Members of the Hooker County 4-H Council are: Kelsey Phillips - President, Matt Brown - Vice President, Brooke McIntosh - Treasurer, Darci Samuelson - Member.
The Ag. Society and 4-H Council spend months preparing for the fair. It also takes many other volunteers to put on the Hooker County Fair, so let’s show them all how much they are appreciated by attending the variety of events that will take place for the whole family.
See you at the fair!
