Janice Huber

Janice (Priest) Huber, 70, of North Platte, Nebraska, went home to be with our Lord on Sept. 21, 2025.

She was born on Feb. 23, 1955, to Hermel L. and Phyllis (Daly) Priest, in Sutherland, Nebraska. Janice was the youngest sibling to Sherry, Wanda, Rita and Rusty.

Their family lived the first six years on a farm in Eugene, Missouri, then moving back to North Platte. Janice attended Cody Elementary school, then North Platte Jr. and Sr. High School, graduating with the class of 1973 from North Platte High School.

On Oct. 20, 1973, Janice was united in marriage to Mick (Michael Joseph) Huber at the First Christian Church in North Platte, where Janice was a member. They lived at various Sandhill ranches where Mick worked. Two children were born into this union. Dana Renee was born on April 3, 1977, and Dustin Joseph on June 30, 1980.

After Mick’s accident and passing in 2002, Janice shared her testimony at Christian Women’s Clubs in Nebraska and a few churches in the area. She also traveled to Louisiana with her nurse friend, Laura Martinez (Minden), to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Janice was a member of the North Platte Berean Church. Her greatest gift and passion were singing and playing guitar, whenever, wherever she had the opportunity to enjoy Christian music. In the early 80’s she played with a country western band; in 2000-2010, a gospel Bluegrass group on occasion. Singing with her sisters and brother at family reunions and functions was always a special time. Janice shared her love for music for many years at care homes. Singing a variety of old and new hymns and songs that her mom and dad taught her. She also loved photography but did not like to have her picture taken!
