Albert Lewis Hardy, age 89, formerly of the Anselmo area passed away Sept. 14, 2021, at the Quality Senior Villages in Broken Bow, Nebraska.
Funeral services were Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow with Pastor Lana Day officiating. The funeral was livestreamed at www.govierbrothers.com. Burial followed in the Victoria Creek Cemetery.

Albert was born the third child to Albert “Bert” J. and Eva C. (Wells) Hardy on Jan. 14, 1932, at Mullen, Nebraska.
He grew up on a ranch south of Mullen and went to grade school in a trailer school. Later the family moved to a ranch north of Thedford.
After high school Albert moved to Anselmo to work for grandmother Minnie Wells, where he met Joanne Lindly. Albert and Joanne married May 29, 1955, when he took a job working on the Milburn Dam. In the fall they moved to Kearney, working for a famer near Fort Kearney. Jerry was born in 1956. They moved to Broken Bow and worked for a feedlot. Nancy was born in 1959, Albert and family moved north of Thedford, working on a ranch for five years. Jim was born in 1961, moving back to Anselmo to farm and raise cattle. Albert was a member of the Custer County Sheriff’s Posse and rode the last leg of “The Pony Express” in 1967. Albert and family moved to town in 1977, where he worked for the Custer County Department of Roads as a mechanic until retirement. After retirement, Albert was the maintenance man for Anselmo and a substitute mail carrier.
Albert loved his horses, fishing and enjoyed being with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Albert is survived by daughter Nancy Hardy of Anselmo, son Jim Hardy and wife Elizabeth Hardy of Hastings, daughter-in-law Becky Hardy of Ainsworth, grandchildren Christina and Tony Buckles of Ainsworth, Brandon and Tea Hardy of Odenton, Maryland, and Samantha Hardy amd significant other Aaron Dye of Juniata, step-grandchildren Blake Fahrenholtz, Paige Fahrenholtz, Reilly Schneider and Reid Fahrenholtz, great-grandchildren Monroe, Sutton, Jade, Anniston Buckles and Max Hardy, step-great-grandchild Selah Fahrenholtz, siblings Minnie Hamilton of Mullen, Don and Sandra Hardy of Anselmo, Bill and Diann Hardy of York, and Reta Teahon of Halsey, several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents Bert and Eva, wife Joanne, son Jerry, brother Wayne and sister-in-law Bette Hardy, brothers-in-law Gayle Hamilton and Leland Teahon.
