Joan Paulson

Joan Bruce Paulson passed away Oct. 27, 2024, at the age of 85. She was born on Feb. 28, 1939, in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado, to Wally and Josephine Bruce and was raised in Haxtun, Colorado, along with four siblings.

Joan graduated from Haxtun High School in 1957, from Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, Minnesota, and the University of Colorado with her Master’s of Nursing.

She married Delano Paulson, residing in their country home near Dodge Center, Minnesota. Besides her career in nursing, she loved to travel and be notable with history and genealogy, enjoyed singing in church choir and playing the piano. Her home state of Colorado held a special place in her heart.

She is survived by her husband, three sons and spouses, two daughters and spouses, one sister and one brother and spouses, 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, her parents, one brother and one sister and their spouses.

Funeral services were held on Nov. 1, 2024, at Faith Community Church in West Concord, Minnesota, with burial at Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center, Minnesota.

Lois Folk of Mullen knew Joan Paulson growing up at Haxtun, Colorado, and they each considered the other as their “twin,” being born on the same date, being the same age and having the same middle name.

Both Jackie Homan and Joan Paulson were bridesmaids in the wedding party of Lewis Don and Lois Folk.
