With this being National School Lunch Week, we wanted to bring the Mullen Organization of Beef back into the spotlight.
The MOB originated during the 2014-15 school year. Since our start up, we have had tremendous support throughout the community and county.
Over the years our booster members keep growing, and more recognize the importance of keeping the program going strong.
We are now up to 16 beef/ pork boosters, 6 beef/pork returning boosters, 2 egg boosters, 1 money donor and 10 volunteer grillers/helpers.
We are set up with the Hooker County Community Foundation to show your contributions to the program for taxable deductions.
Not everyone has the access to donate an animal, but if you would like to help support our program with a money contribution to help with processing fees so we can continue serving our students area produced animals while also promoting our local ranchers, it would be greatly appreciated.
We have been fortunate to have a tailgate grill out fundraiser for the last three years at a home football game, silent auction fundraisers at two home baseball games, had a MOB kick off for the first day of school with grilled hamburgers and an end of the year grill off, which have all been well attended.
If you would like to donate through money donation, or an animal, you can contact Barb McIntosh at the school at 308-546-2508 or cell 308- 546-7118 or Mr. Kvanvig or Mr. Kuncl at the high school at 308-546-2223.
With a beef donation, we ask that they be fed corn, and if that is a problem we will gladly purchase the corn for the animal while it is being fattened. We currently get all of our animals processed through a USDA inspected facility in Elwood, Nebraska.
At this time we would like to recognize all of our boosters for your continued support and contributions. Thanks to you all!

Mullen Public Schools also just got signed up to allow students to receive free school meals through the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
The school decided to implement the free meals beginning on Aug. 13, 2020. All student accounts will be credited for meal charges assessed since Aug. 13, excluding a la carte purchases.
