Last Wednesday, Sept. 4 Gerri Peterson of the Hooker County Tribune delivered the first issue of Kid Scoop News to Mullen Elementary’s 3rd-5th graders.
Kid Scoop News is a homeschool- community youth literacy program that empowers your local community newspaper to offer students the equivalent of a book a month. It’s packed with games, puzzles, kid-tailored stories and news designed to make all kids want to read.
Peterson received a grant from the Hooker County Community Foundation to provide Kid Scoop News to Mullen Elementary once a month this school year.
Peterson also gave each student a copy of that week’s Hooker County Tribune, which they were also excited to receive - especially since many of them were pictured or mentioned in the issue. As promised to the classes, here they all are in this week’s issue of the Tribune!
