In science, the Mullen second graders are exploring which birds are most likely to visit a feeder based on what they eat. To start, each student sketched a unique bird feeder designed to attract a specific species.

Mullen FFA competes in Range Judging Contest

Over 200 students and adults from 11 Nebraska schools gathered near Thedford last Wednesday, Sept.10 for the 2025 Area 2 Range Judging Contest, hosted by the Nebraska Society for Range Management, the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service and Nebraska Extension.

The Mullen Area College Fair was held last Monday, Sept. 8 with 147 students in attendance to connect with 37 post-secondary representatives. Colleges from Nebraska and neighboring states came to help students answer questions and make connections for higher education.

Coble wins scholarship

Lincoln - The Nebraska Cattlemen Foundation (NCF) awarded over $70,000 in scholarships to help the next generation of the agriculture industry in their academic pursuits. The scholarships were awarded to 65 distinguished students.

The Mullen STEM Club kicked off the year by testing their engineering skills in The Great Chain Race last Tuesday, Sept. 9. The club is for grades 4-6 and meets monthly at the high school.

by Gerri Peterson Mullen High School 7-12 Science teacher Sarah Hardin was only a few minutes into her Standard Science class on Monday, Sept. 15, starting a new unit about energy, when she was interrupted by an entourage being led into her classroom by MHS Principal Mike Kvanvig.
