4 FCCLA members qualify for Nationals

by Kelli WalzThirteen members from Mullen traveled to Lincoln for the annual FCCLA State Leadership Conference April 7-9. While attending the conference, students heard from keynote speaker, Coach VJ, who shared her experience playing basketball and becoming mentally tough.
Mullen STEM Club hosted a guest speaker for the last STEM Club meeting of the year on April 9. Shawn Jacobs, the Warning Coordination Meteorologist from the National Weather Service in North Platte, came to talk to the kids about weather forecasting.

Seniors to receive MPCC honor cords

A total of 397 area high school seniors will receive honor cords from Mid-Plains Community College to wear at their graduation ceremonies this spring.MPCC presents the cords to students who have taken the initiative to pursue college credit while still in high school.

First Mullen Elementary Awards Night held

New this year for Mullen Elementary was an Awards Night just for the elementary students, which was held before the Spring Music Concert last Tuesday, April 9. Awards presented were Perfect Attendance, Outstanding Students for each grade level and Mullen Elementary Student of the Year.
The MHS sophomores have been learning how to collect water for well testing. They partnered with the program 'Know Your Well' that provides free domestic well testing through UNL. Last week they sampled and tested wells, learning about a valuable Sandhills resource. Tawn Jewell
