1st graders build own bird houses

by Donalee Barner With the help of the high school shop class and Mr. Phil Hoyt, 1st grade put together bird houses. After reading books each morning the 1st grade earned the chance to put together their own bird house and paint it. The pieces were made and pre-drilled by senior Tel Kvanvig.

Lauren Schoonveld selected to attend NAYI

Lincoln – The Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) received a recordbreaking number of applications from current high school juniors and seniors across the state to attend the Nebraska Agricultural Youth Institute (NAYI) this summer.

2nd graders take field trip to North Platte

The 2nd grade students went on a field trip to North Platte on May 9th. They got a tour of the North Platte Community Playhouse, enjoyed lunch and played at Cody Park and then ended with a tour of the Garden Glove Greenhouse.

Mullen TeamMates Chapter wraps up 14th year

by Gerri Peterson, Mullen TeamMates Chapter Board Member Mullen’s TeamMates Mentoring Program has wrapped up another successful year with 49 matches. Mentors are matched with a Mullen High School student in grades 7-12, with the goal to meet with them once a week during the school year.

Haley Jones graduates

Chadron - Haley Jones of Mullen was among the 217 undergraduates honored Saturday, May 6 at Chadron State College. Jones was a Magna Cum Laude candidate for Bachelor of Science in Education.

MHS and Junior High Quiz Bowl teams finish seasons

The Mullen High School Quiz Bowl team finished the season at the ESU 16 Bowl in North Platte last month. The team also competed in Merna, Callaway and Stapleton. The Junior High team traveled to Merna, Dunning and North Platte this year. The Junior High team placed 2nd at ESU!
The Mullen Elementary enjoyed a fun and hot Field Day last Thursday, May 4th. Students competed in personal events like high jump, long jump, rope skip, shoe kick, softball throw and races. Students also competed on colored teams playing a variety of fun games like a shoe pile relay, pass the hula hoop, a baton relay, a three-legged race and a water balloon toss.
