Mullen High School Prom is Saturday

Mullen High School Prom will be held on Saturday, March 18 at the Lariat. The general public is invited to attend the Grand March, which will begin at 8:00 p.m. Prom pictures will begin immediately after the 6:00 p.m. supper. Picture packets are available at the high school.

Lauren Schoonveld of rural Valentine, a junior at Mullen High School, has been selected to attend American Legion Auxiliary Cornhusker Girls State June 4-10, 2023, on the campus of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
The kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students participated in Read Across America Week by celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday last Thursday, March 2. They rotated through stations with a group and did a variety of activities. They even listened to a story with Mr. Mauler while enjoying a snack!

In science, the 2nd grade students explored the different properties of materials used for clothing, such as texture, flexibility, and absorbency. Lincoln - The Nebraska Press Association Foundation will award up to six (6) scholarships in 2023 to qualified high school seniors and college students seeking to enroll or already enrolled at a Nebraskabased, or out-of-state college/ university.

Owen Thorberg is Student of the Month

by Izabella Brown, MHS senior This month’s student of the month is junior Owen Thorberg. Owen is the son of Aaron and Kendra Thorberg. Owen participates in football, wrestling and FFA. Owen was nominated as student of the month by Mullen staff during their monthly Leadership Council meeting.

February Pizza with the Principal at the elementary

Pizza with the Principal is a reward for six Mullen Elementary School students, which features one student from each grade level. This is the elementary school’s version of student of the month. Each grade level will have one award winner each month.
The MHS speech team competed at the MNAC meet held in Mullen on Saturday, Feb. 25. Ashlyn Simonson was the MNAC entertainment champion and also placed 3rd in persuasive.
