Lady Broncos clench two more wins

by Gerri Peterson The Lady Broncos came out of Christmas break and added two more wins to their record last weekend.On Friday, Jan. 2 the ladies traveled to D1 Ainsworth, where they used a 17-5 first quarter lead to propel them to a 47-37 victory.

by Gerri Peterson Last Friday evening, Jan. 2 at Ainsworth, the boys basketball team saw a 28-16 halftime lead disappear in the third quarter when they were outscored 8-20. The Broncos lost the fourth quarter battle, falling short 49-51.

Broncos to be Class D3 in football

by Gerri Peterson The Nebraska School Activities Association announced the 2026 and 2027 football classifications last week.The Mullen Broncos are now Class D3. In our D3-6 District will be Anselmo-Merna, Brady, Maxwell, Sandhills Valley and Sandhills/Thedford.

Broncos go into Christmas break with 3-1 record

The Mullen Broncos hosted the Anselmo-Merna Coyotes last Thursday, Dec. 18.Tied 20-20 at halftime, the Coyotes came out on fire in the second half to outscore the Broncos 4-13 and 8-14, handing the Broncos a 32-47 loss.

Lady Broncos fall to Anselmo-Merna Coyotes in overtime

 The Lady Broncos hosted the Anselmo-Merna Coyotes last Thursday, Dec. 18. It was another home game impacted by a wind event - this time, the games were pushed back an hour due to high winds across the area to make sure the team and fans could arrive safely.

Lady Broncos earn wrestling medals

Two Lady Bronco wrestlers earned their first high school wrestling medals in Valentine on Friday, Dec. 19.Georgia Wingebach placed 4th at 130. She pinned Makenna Koch (Ainsworth) in 4:27 before being pinned in 0:56 by Grace Drueke (O’Neill).

Boys wrestling team competes back to back

The Mullen Bronco boys wrestling team had meets back to back last week. They first competed in Sutherland on Friday, Dec. 19, where they placed 4th out of 21 teams.Four Broncos came home with medals - three of them winning their weight class.Bo Pettit, Jr. placed first at 132.
