Dear Dave, I’m in college fulltime right now, and my parents have been generous enough to pay for some of my school expenses. In addition, they let me live at home while I complete my degree.

Last week, we celebrated National Police Week, as well as Peace Officers Memorial Day on May 15. The week is a solemn observance in the United States that pays tribute to the local, state, and federal peace officers who have died or been disabled in the line of duty.

Back in November we booked plane tickets for a family vacation to Seattle this month. We wrapped up a paper airplane and gifted the trip to our kids at Christmas.I’m always looking forward to something, and this trip had been greatly anticipated by all of us.

In addition to serving as vice-chair of the Banking, Commerce, and Insurance Committee these past two years, I also served on the Natural Resources Committee. This committee heard many power-related bills that could impact District 42. We are fortunate to be home to the Gerald Gentleman power plant.

If you come inspect our toilets (I wouldn’t recommend it), you’ll see that like many things around here, cleaning them has definitely been put on the back burner. Though they must not be too bad because I’ve learned over 15 years of marriage that if something gets too gross, Dane will clean it!

It was great spending the week back in North Platte this past week. I returned to town on Saturday night, and after attending church on Sunday morning, Julie and I had the opportunity to attend the musical “Something Rotten” at the Fox Theatre.
