Last year you all gave me some great book recommendations, so I’m here for more! I have always loved to read, but it was one of the things that I gave up after having kids. About five years ago I started listening to audiobooks and it was a game changer for me.

This week marks the beginning of the second half of the 108th Legislative session, which officially begins on Wednesday, January 3. The first few days are reserved for bill introduction, as well as the Rules Committee’s consideration of proposed rule changes.

There are two types of people - spenders and savers. I’ve been a saver my entire life. I despise spending full price on anything and budgeting is my jam. I also enjoy cooking and baking, so it’s no surprise that I love the grocery store sale flier.

Since this will be my last column of 2023, I want to start by expressing my appreciation for all the support I have gotten throughout the year. This job has become an enormous time commitment, but I am truly honored to serve as your State Senator.

With the session just a couple of weeks away, I want to update you on a couple of topics I intend to work on this year. First, I met with the health insurance providers late last week regarding LB32 (MediGap) and we agreed on amendment language to move this bill ahead.

I’m fortunate to have many happy memories surrounding Christmastime throughout the years. I do love the Christmas season and the traditions it brings, but I’m also OK if we don’t get all the things done every year for the “perfect” Christmas. My favorite part is spending time with family.

Dear Dave, I think my mother-in-law has a serious credit card problem. She can’t afford stuff, but she shops anyway, chalks up more and more debt, acquires more credit cards, and thinks she’ll pay for it all later somehow.

This week, I want to begin my article by congratulating the North Platte Area Chamber & Development Corporation for selecting White River Soy Processing to develop a soy processing plant inside the newly created Inland Port of the Plains near Hershey.

Love them or hate them, it’s Christmas card season! I’m a Christmas card fan and even bigger Christmas letter fan. As someone who enjoys connecting with people, I love reading updates on everyone’s families.
