As Veterans Day approaches, I want to take an opportunity to highlight this critical but often neglected section of our population. Both my father and father-in-law served in the U.S. military in World War II and the Korean War, respectively.

Mark your calendars now for Nov. 19th! Why? Because it’s your favorite newspaper publisher’s birthday! I told my husband Dane that what I wanted for my birthday this year was to get decorations hung in our house after moving back into our town house in May.

While the Nebraska Huskers didn’t get a win this past Saturday at Memorial Stadium, it was still an absolutely gorgeous fall day for football. My family has a pair of Husker football season tickets, which have been in our family for at least 60 years.

This past Friday, I joined Governor Ricketts for the ribbon cutting for the newly constructed Army National Guard Vehicle Maintenance shop on east Highway 30 along the western boundary of the North Platte Airport.

Dear Dave, After hearing you talk about financial infidelity, I have to admit that I hide money from my husband. I have been setting aside money for emergencies without his knowledge. He is not terrible with money, but he always seems to find something to spend it on.

I’m a firm believer that Christmas music and decorations are for mid-November (normally after Thanksgiving) through New Year’s Eve. But here at the Tribune office it’s already time to think about Christmas. I know, I know, Halloween hasn’t even happened yet.

As many of you know, the borders of District 42 were expanded beyond Lincoln County during the 2020 redistricting. Outmigration of population from Lincoln County over the last decade accounts for the change.

Dear Dave, I need help. I am way behind on my basic utilities and my taxes. I have tried to start the Baby Steps, but everything is so overwhelming right now that it is easy to get discouraged.

The 2022 Election is a big one for Nebraska. In just a few short weeks, Nebraskans will elect a new Governor and Lieutenant Governor, at least 15 new State Senators, and countless other civil servants to state, regional, county, and local offices.
