Update from Senator Jacobson

The Legislature cleared its first filibuster last week after spending eight hours debating LB77, Senator Brewer’s priority bill to enact Constitutional Carry. I was happy to be one of 36 Senators who voted to end the filibuster and move the bill to the second round of debate.

I’m a self-described cookie snob. I love cooking and baking, and cookies are one of my favorite things to make. I always double the recipe so there are extra to freeze. My family’s favorite cookie is what we’ve dubbed “Ovaltine Cookies.”

Dave Says

Dear Dave, I have an uncle who wants to gift some property to one of his sons, myself and my sister. The property is about two-and-a-half acres, and it’s probably worth around $125,000.

Update from Senator Mike Jacobson

Tuesday, Feb. 28 marks Day 35 of the 90-day session. The final day for senators and committees to designate their priority bills is March 14. Committee hearings will end on March 24, after which all-day floor debate will begin.

Pieces of Me

I’ve been having lots of pregnancy dreams lately, but I’m not the only one. So has my sister’s sister-inlaw. We are both eagerly and impatiently waiting to become aunts (my fourth time - but her first time) and are having more baby related dreams than my sister is!

Dave Says

Dear Dave, I’m an anesthesiologist, and I make between $260,000 and $270,000 a year. My wife is a stay-athome mom who takes care of our preschool-age kids.

Update from Senator Mike Jacobson

Tuesday, Feb. 21 marks Day 31 of the 90-day session and Feb. 23 is my 1-year anniversary as your District 42 Senator. Although we have now completed many bill hearings, we have only begun to pass bills through the first round of debate.

Dave Says

Dear Dave, The other day, my wife and I discovered a Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) we’d forgotten about for over 10 years from my time in the Army. There’s a little over $3,200 in there. We’re both in our thirties, and we’re trying to save up our starter emergency fund in Baby Step 1 of your plan.

I spent a summer in college working for the Nebraska Department of Transportation here out of the Mullen shop. I enjoyed working with the crew from here and the surrounding towns and it was great pay for a summer job.
