Now that fall has arrived, the attention of ag producers has turned to harvest. Ranchers have completed their hay harvest and are preparing for the winter-feeding season once the grazing season comes to a close.

My husband Dane and I are fortunate to be able to raise our kids in my hometown and only about an hour from where he grew up. It has been especially fun for me to watch our kids participate in some of the same activities that I did as a kid.

Dave Ramsey Dear Dave, What is the right age to begin giving children an allowance? Ben Dear Ben, In my mind, there’s never a right time to give kids an allowance. Instead, work out a plan to pay them commissions, and assign them ageappropriate weekly chores.

Update from Senator Mike Jacobson

Over the past few months, much focus has been placed on the new economic development projects in District 42. Each project will bring good paying jobs and economic growth. Growth in the region will increase sales tax revenue and property tax payers, all which should reduce area property tax rates.

Is anyone else still eating all things zucchini like we are? In years past I would take advantage of anyone sharing zucchini, but last year I finally got my way and we planted zucchini in our family garden at my parents’ for the first time ever that I can remember.

Dear Dave, My wife and I just bought a new home, and we only need one or two more things to furnish the living room. Over the weekend, we found a couch and love seat set we both like for $3,000.

This past week, the longawaited Sustainable Beef project was officially announced and dirt work is underway. Sustainable Beef is a huge project and will take nearly two years to construct.

My husband Dane and I’s parents have all been married for at least 40 years now. My parents have been married for 44 years and Dane’s parents’ 40th anniversary was this past weekend. Dane and I celebrated our 14th year wedding anniversary last month.

Dave Ramsey Dear Dave, I recently had a judgment filed against me for an unpaid, old hospital bill. Is it possible to negotiate things with the lawyer? Originally, the charges were $2,700 but now they have increased to $3,500, and I am not sure why the amount has risen.

Although it may not feel like fall yet, it’s just around the corner. For taxing authorities, fall means the start of budget season. Taxing authorities need a sound budget to determine what their tax ask will be for the upcoming year. Nebraskans pay both state and local taxes.
