Our 9-year-old son Teal had an item qualify for the Nebraska State Fair this year during his first year of 4-H - his Grand Champion perennial flower entry of hibiscus.

Dear Dave, My husband and I have always gotten by. We both make about $40,000 a year, we each turned 50 last month, and we only have a little bit of debt. Recently, my motherin- law moved in with us due to health issues.
As the month of August ends, schools have reopened and fall sports are now in full swing. This is always a special time of year for me. I remember my time teaching fondly, particularly opportunities I had to make a positive impact on students.
Since my husband Dane changed jobs and we moved from the country back into our house in town in May, we’ve gotten the questions, “How do you like your new job?” and “How do you like living in town?” often.
The answers are normally, “Great!” and, “Eh.

Dear Dave, How do you know if a will or a trust is best for you?
Monica Dear Monica, This is a great question, especially since August is National Makea- Will Month.
Educational opportunities are critical to building and growing a healthy economy. This week, I was able to appreciate two facets of the education sector in District 42.
First, District 42 is welcoming two new FFA chapters this year!
It was a milestone week at our house last week, with a day of lasts and then a day of firsts.
After having at least one kid in day care almost full time for nine years, our kids had their last day at day care.
And then it was Danielle’s first day of kindergarten and Teal’s first day of 4th grade!

Dear Dave, My husband and I are retired. I receive a small pension, and we are both on Medicare and Social Security. We have about $25,000 left to pay on our mortgage, along with a second mortgage of $18,000. These are our only debts.
Whew! We’re all still recovering from the Hooker County Fair at our house.
It’s a busy week for many in our community, even if you simply attend the events taking place over eight days.
Dear Dave,
My wife and I have plans to enter the mission field as soon as we have paid off our debt and get a full emergency fund in place. We only have about $12,000 in credit card debt left, and we don’t own a home, but my father does not want this debt to stand in our way.
