Pieces of Me

It’s been two months now since my family moved back into our town house. There are definitely still boxes to be unpacked, but we’re gradually making progress and more and more things are finding their permanent homes.

July 3, 2022 We are fortunate in District 42 to have many hunting opportunities. We have everything from Mullen’s Sandhills Sharptail Shootout to pheasant, deer, elk, and antelope populations in the southern part of the District.

Dave Says

Dear Dave, We have a 2008 Honda Accord that needs a new timing chain. Our mechanic says the repair will cost about $2,200. The car is worth about $4,500. Is it time to get another car, or should we have it repaired? Susan Dear Susan, That sounds a little high for a timing chain fix to me.

Excellence is not a skill. It is an attitude. This sign has hung in my office ever since I purchased the newspaper on July 1, 2008, and for the past 14 years it has pretty much been my business motto. No one is perfect and some of us make our mistakes in more public places than others.

This past week, the Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) announced the $100 million in grants for economic development projects generated from The Shovel Ready Capital Recovery and Investment Act and applications were accepted in July 2021.

Pieces of Me

At least every other day my husband Dane and I say to each other, “When we get our life together, we’ll…” We moved back into our town house seven weeks ago (No way! Seems like it was just the other day!) and we still have quite a bit of things in boxes and piles.

Dave Says

Dear Dave, I live with my boyfriend, and we have a baby together. I brought debt into the relationship, and I’m using your debt snowball method to pay it off, but he is debt-free. We have quite a few shared expenses that we split 50-50, but that means we are constantly reimbursing each other.

Dave Says

Dear Dave, My wife and I are on Baby Step 3, and we were talking the other day about how our home, travel trailer and cars have appreciated recently.

In 2011 I was honored to be nominated for the National Newspaper Association’s Daniel M. Phillips Leadership Award by some of my biggest newspaper mentors. Dane and I traveled to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where I received the award at the National Newspaper Association Convention.
