They say you become a lot like the people you spend time with. If that’s true, I hope I absorbed as much as I possibly could from the crowd I hung around this past weekend. For the first time since 2019, we got to hold the Nebraska Press Association Convention in person.

Now that the 107th Legislature has adjourned sine die, I want to shift the focus of my articles to assisting the residents of District 42 on ways that can take advantage of the benefits created by some of the bills that passed the Legislature this past year.

Dear Dave, My younger brother and his wife did their taxes last month and learned they owe $15,000 to the IRS. I love them both, but they are extremely irresponsible with money. I know they have a lot of credit card debt, too.

The final chapter! Almost 20 years ago I was approached by Dee Arends, Marian Nutter and Charlene Erny about taking a CNA class in North Platte. It was completely out of my comfort zone and after a lot of thinking, I decided to do it. They must have seen something in me that I didn’t.

Dear Dave, A relative of mine recently mentioned she had two life insurance policies. Is it okay for a person to have more than one life insurance policy? If so, why would someone do that? Victoria Dear Victoria, There aren’t any rules against having more than one life insurance policy.

We hope you had a great Easter! We really enjoyed the day. Steve Springer came and ate with Twila and Pat and Gary Schwaderer and Crystal Hessin came and ate with Ann. We enjoyed a delicious Easter lunch prepared by Crystal and Marie.

April 18, 2022 The Nebraska Legislature will hold its last day of session on Wednesday, April 20. It seems all short-session years are hectic, but with available funds in the state’s Cash Reserve and $1.04 billion in federal dollars to appropriate, this session has been particularly frenzied.
