It was a milestone week at our house last week, with a day of lasts and then a day of firsts. After having at least one kid in day care almost full time for nine years, our kids had their last day at day care. And then it was Danielle’s first day of kindergarten and Teal’s first day of 4th grade!

Dave Ramsey Dear Dave, My husband and I are retired. I receive a small pension, and we are both on Medicare and Social Security. We have about $25,000 left to pay on our mortgage, along with a second mortgage of $18,000. These are our only debts.

Whew! We’re all still recovering from the Hooker County Fair at our house. It’s a busy week for many in our community, even if you simply attend the events taking place over eight days.

Dear Dave, My wife and I have plans to enter the mission field as soon as we have paid off our debt and get a full emergency fund in place. We only have about $12,000 in credit card debt left, and we don’t own a home, but my father does not want this debt to stand in our way.

We squeezed in one last summer trip this past weekend before fair and then school, visiting my husband Dane’s sister and her husband just outside of Cheyenne. After taking in the Cheyenne Frontier Days’ parade Saturday morning, we heade to Cheyenne’s trampoline park - a first for all of us.

As we approach fall, I am focused on ideas for new legislation for the 108th Legislative Session. One issue I want to tackle is improvements to the Micro-TIF program so municipalities and counties in District 42 have the best tools they need to grow.

Dear Dave, I finished college a couple of years ago, and I have a good job making $65,000 a year. The only debt I have is about $5,000 remaining on a car loan, and I am paying that off as quickly as possible.

As a sophomore at Mullen High School, I was selected to attend Sandhills Leadership - a program through area schools and the UNL Extension that I believe continued through 2019. One of the activities that we did was take the True Colors personality test, which I still remember 21 years later.

Update from Senator Mike Jacobson

Although the 107 th Legislature has adjourned, our work continues in the interim. In addition to working on new legislation for next year, I am also participating in committee activities. I currently serve in three committees: General Affairs, Agriculture, and Natural Resources.
