Hooker County Fair theme: Country Strong All Year Long

The Hooker County Fair will be held Friday, July 24 Sunday, August 2. Watch the Tribune for a full schedule of events.The Hooker County Fair theme contest winner was fifth grader Avery Vinton with “Country Strong All Year Long.” She will receive $50 from the Hooker County Ag Society.

Mullen Book Club to meet next July 15

The Mullen Book Club will meet next on Wednesday, July 15, at 6:00 p.m. on the Hooker County Courthouse lawn to discuss “Beneath a Scarlet Sky” by Mark Sullivan. Bring your lawn chair and join us any month.Copies of the book are available at the Hooker County Library.

Warrior Bonfire Program visits Nebraska Sandhills

The Warrior Bonfire exists to serve Purple Heart recipients exclusively, providing fully funded, peer-led outdoor retreat experiences across the country. Skiing, hunting, fishing, scuba diving, rafting, and many more, all shared with others who have walked the same road. No cost to the veteran.

Caleb Furrow was the featured artist at the Mullen Arts Cen ter earlier this month, with a reception held Saturday, June 13. Caleb is a 2026 graduate of Callaway High School, and will be majoring in art at Hastings College this fall, as a part of the Jackson Honors Program.
