‘Paint the Sandhills of Nebraska’

by Stephanie Carter-Nielsen The Mullen Arts Center, with support from the Hooker County Lodging Commission and Dismal River Club, is proud to announce its inaugural fundraising art event the week of May 11-18, “Paint the Sandhills of Nebraska.

Gathering on ‘The Hill’

Come join us on “The Hill” for an afternoon of refreshments, visiting, board games, puzzles, cards, books or an activity of your choice. Plans are being made to open the nursing home, which we prefer to call The Hill, one afternoon a week for just getting together.

Donate blood next Wednesday

Mullen - The community is invited to roll up a sleeve and answer the call for patients in need by donating blood on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hilltop Gym. Blood donors are lifesaving heroes.

Local Working Group meeting set

A Local Working Group that provides advice on the priorities for many U.S. Department of Agriculture conservation programs will meet March 14, 2024, 1:00 p.m. CST at the Upper Loup NRD Learning Center in Thedford. The public is encouraged to attend and express their natural resource concerns.

Beware of false spring!

Warmer weather and longer days are starting to show up, giving so many of us hope and excitement for the new growing season. Beware of “False Spring”, where the warm days can be followed by cold snaps and potential spring blizzards that will visit the region at some point in March and April.
