Christmas tree cutting permits on sale

Chadron and Halsey – Christmas tree cutting permits are on sale now through Dec. 31st. The permits are only available online at Recreation.gov for $10 plus a $2.50 processing fee, or at the following offices for $10 Monday through Friday: Supervisor Office/Pine Ridge Office, at 125 N.

Editor’s note: Larry Hardesty of Kearney shared this story with the Tribune about a troop of black bicyclists who pedaled from Missoula, Montana, to St. Louis, Missouri, via the Sandhills in 1897. Mullen was one of the towns on their route.

From the Superintendent’s Desk: teacher shortage

by Chris Kuncl, MPS Superintendent Every time the school year reaches the month of December, it is a reminder of how fast time flies. Over the past month, I was able to attend the Teacher Shortage Summit in Kearney and the Nebraska Association of School Boards state conference in Omaha.

Senator Ricketts’ mobile office hours

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE) has announced his constituent casework staff will be hosting mobile office hours around the state. At mobile office hours, Ricketts’ staff will be on-site to assist Nebraskans with their casework needs.

United Women in Faith hold meeting

United Women in Faith met Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 18 in the senior high room of the church with five members present. President Sue Bonesteel opened the meeting. Concerns and a joy were given.

Mullen News

Frank Harding enjoyed guests over the weekend, daughter Karen Juzenas and her son Dan Juzenas visited Frank in Mullen to celebrate Dan’s birthday. They enjoyed church services together in Mullen and Hyannis.

Mick and Midge Harding had a busy weekend enjoying time with their family. They welcomed Lloyd and Dani Harding of Dalton; grandson Bowan Detterer of Bridgeport; and granddaughter Tara and son Wren Powell of Scottsbluff. They arrived Friday evening and headed back west Sunday after lunch together.
