Summer Reading Program to be June 11

The Summer Reading Program will be held Thursday, June 11 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Hooker County Library for children entering kindergarten through 5th grade.

Mullen blood drive collects 34 units

At the blood drive held in Mullen last Thursday, May 21, 34 units were donated - 1 unit over the goal! It also included three power red donations.

Annual Girl Scout Day Camp held last week

by Sooky Marks Fourteen Mullen Girl Scouts enjoyed three days out along the Middle Loup River at the annual Girl Scout Day Camp.Some girls proved to be great billy goats, climbing with great agility to the top of the cliffs. Others enjoyed hiking to the bridge across flat land!

The Mullen Book Club is reading “Ghost Boy” by Martin Pistorius this month to discuss at their next meeting on Wednesday, June 17, 6:00 p.m. on the Hooker County Courthouse lawn. Bring a lawn chair and join the discussion.Copies of the book are available at the Hooker County Library.

The flags flying at Cedar view Cemetery in Mullen over Memorial Day weekend were beautiful at anytime of day. Every flag flown was once on a veteran’s casket, with the name of the veteran sewn onto the seam of the flag.

VBS at Mullen Methodist is June 15-19

Mullen Methodist Church’s Vacation Bible School will be held June 15-19, 9 a.m. to noon each day. This year’s theme is Shake It Up Cafe. The program and a potluck supper will be held Friday, June 19 at 6:00 p.m. All are welcome.VBS is for children ages potty trained 3-year-olds to sixth grade.

Cedarview Cemetery Clean-up

Mullen’s Cedarview Cemetery was buzzing was activity last Sunday afternoon, May 17.Around 30 community members of all ages participated in the annual clean-up organized by the Mullen Commercial Club and MHS National Honor Society students.
