Local businesses fail alcohol compliance checks

Investigators with the Nebraska State Patrol recently conducted alcohol compliance checks in Buffalo, Kearney, Logan, Thomas, Hooker and Grant counties. During the evening hours of Saturday, Dec. 3, investigators conducted alcohol compliance checks at businesses in Buffalo and Kearney counties.

Carson has new job title at NRCS

After 27 years as a Rangeland Management Specialist, I decided I needed a shorter title and a change in my career. I began working for NRCS (SCS then) in 1988 as a Soil Conservation Aid (Summer Intern) in Mullen and in Imperial in 1989.

Kearney – Katie Olson, a member of Holt County Farm Bureau, was elected as the First Vice President of Nebraska Farm Bureau (NEFB) at their Annual Meeting in Kearney, Dec. 6. Olson has been a Farm Bureau member for nearly 20 years.

This holiday season beware of scams towards seniors

For most of us, the holidays are full of giving, getting, and goodwill. But some bad actors use the holidays to take advantage of people’s generous spirits and frequently target older members of our communities more vulnerable to scammers and con artists.

Bob and Peggy Marsh returned home after spending several days in Las Vegas for the NFR. They cheered on their great-nephew, Zeke Thurston as he earned his third NFR World Championship in saddle bronc. While there, they were able to visit Zeke and his family; wife, Jayne, and kids, Lucy and Hardy.

Mother Nature has decided to be a little dramatic with her forecast this week. I hope everyone stays safe and warm indoors. As a rancher’s wife, I know there are no snow days allowed in agriculture, thoughts and prayers to our area ranchers.
