49 years of ‘countless ups and downs’ for Olsons

by Jadyn Andersen, MHS junior Oley and Julie Olson have been returning Mullen residents since 1976. They have been married for 49 years and have three children, Megan Andersen, Jay Olson and Mikki Hensley.

Mullen Book Club now reading ‘Such a Fun Age’

The Mullen Book Club will be discussing “Such a Fun Age” by Kiley Reid at their next meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 6:00 p.m. at the Mullen Arts Center. You are welcome to bring a beverage or appetizer to share. Copies of the book are available at the Hooker County Library.

NPCC Theater Department to present Godspell

Tickets for “Godspell,” a production of the North Platte Community College Theater Department and the North Platte Community Playhouse, will go on sale Nov. 7.

Forage Minute: Reducing yuccas and late fall irrigation

Jerry Volesky Yucca plants, which are also called soapweed, can be quite common on rangeland in western and central Nebraska. In some areas, they can be quite thick and significantly reduce grass production. There are ways, though, to reclaim those grazinglands.

Free farm/ranch clinics offered monthly

A free farm finance clinic for farmers and ranchers and their families will be held in Valentine on Thursday, Oct. 27. The clinic is confidential, one-on-one sessions with an experienced ag law attorney and ag finance counselor. These clinics have been offered in Nebraska since 1989.

Diana Brost is ready to enjoy retirement

by Toni Massey, MHS freshman Diana Brost. Who is she? Diana has done a lot in her life and is a very significant person. She was born, raised and graduated high school and college all in Chadron, Nebraska. Diana met her late husband, Dan Brost, while she was in college in their sciences classes.

‘Be kind... get along.. be honest’

by Bella Brown, MHS senior Donna Reynolds, as most people already know, is a very kind and caring person. She has experienced many things in her life. She currently works at the Sand Hills Golf Course in housekeeping. She mentioned how much she loves working out there with the younger kids.
