Historical Society to meet Thursday

The Hooker County Historical Society met at the Old Hotel/Museum on Thursday, Oct. 28. Vice President Sue Bonesteel called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. Present were: Jennifer Peters, Charlie Jones, Frank Harding, Chuck Anders, Karen Happ, Ty Walker and Ted Bonesteel.

General Unit of United Methodist Women

The General Unit of the United Methodist Women met in the senior high room of the church on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 20 with five members present. Lenora Little was a visitor. President Sue Bonesteel opened the meeting with joys and concerns and she gave prayer.

At Mullen’s Veterans Day program last Thursday, Nov. 11, Frank Harding, American Legion Marcy Upton Post #109 Chaplain, shared history of the dedication of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Washington, D.C., 100 years ago, and also that Mullen’s Marcy Upton Post #109 is 100 years old this year.

Walkabout set for Friday, Dec. 10

Some changes are coming to the Mullen Commercial Club’s annual Christmas Walkabout this year. The event will be held on Friday, Dec. 10 with a lot of it taking place at the Hooker County Community Center from 5-8 p.m. Santa will also be at the fairgrounds that evening from 5-6 p.m.
